Tom Parrish: Surfer – Shaper – Surf legend - Most in demand shaper for lightning bolt

Here is a hand shaped Hakman Parrish “Hawaiian Gun” especially made for John Costello of Haleiwa, Hawaii.  This Waimea Gun Lightning bolt is 8’8 and especially made to handle the waves that only the North Shore can produce.  According to master shaper, Tom Parrish, “This was a custom-made board shaped thicker than normal to accommodate ease of paddling for riding Waimea Bay” In the book “The Ultimate Guide to Vintage Surfboards”, on pg. 182 quotes. “Tom Parrish only shaped about 150 of the Hakman Parrish models under the critical eye of Jeff Hakman, the most successful pro of the early to mid 70’s.  Parrish went on to become the most in demand shaper for lightning bolt”.
