History:

This is a Hobie Semi gun shaped by Mike Hynson for the movie Endless Summer.  Mike Hynson, Bruce Brown, and Robert August were all planning on bringing multiple boards on the trip until Brown told them days before that they could only bring one board each. The first board that Mike Hynson decided to leave behind was his 10’2 Gun for obvious reasons that it wouldn’t work in all the places they were going to.  That board was found and sold for $17,500 by a different company..  This board was stored for over 50 years in Southern California and found a few years ago as it was left to a friend in their Will.

Reunited with Mike Hynson:

After a couple of years have gone by, we were able to find Mike and show him pictures and video of the board and he said, “yup that’s the one.”  As soon as he said that we wrapped the board up, sent it across the country to him for verification and IT WAS THE ONE!!!!  We have videos and pictures of Mike holding the board, signing the board, and signing the Authenticity Letter. WOW!!  In the video you can see how Mike was emotional.  There is no better povenance then this. 

The Board:

Is a 9’4 Semi Gun with red rail panels, white and blue vertical stripes on the deck and bottom.   It has a monster Hobie Logo on the deck that Mike signed, as well as on the glassed on transparent fin.  There are no heel compressions on the deck, foam is slightly tanned with some very slight surface scratches on the board.

THIS IS AS REAL AS IT GETS!!   AUTHENTICATED OFF THE CHARTS!  THIS IS TRULY A HISTORICAL BOARD AND IS LOOKING FOR ITS NEXT CARE TAKER!  Good luck to all bidders.
