Description:     FIRST TIME ON THE AUCTION BLOCK!   FULL HAWAIIAN LINEAGE!    100% ORIGINAL!

When you’re looking for an original balsa board from Hawaii from the 50’s with that full classic look, here it is.   The golden honey appearance is the original glass job aged to perfection. Several repairs on the rails that were expertly repaired  decades ago were done perfectly.  The logo, down at the tail has not been altered at all..  Not many of these hand shaped balsa boards were made. They were only shaped in a two-year period at the end of the balsa era before the foam boards started to pave the way.  In the book “The Ultimate Guide to Vintage surfboards and Collectibles” on pg 81 quotes, “Bob Shepard teamed up with Joe Daniels to form a surfboard company, Swim Boats, at the beginning of the foam era.  Balsa was very quickly becoming obsolete, and the company lasted just a couple of years”.      There is a photo of a Swim Boat surfboard on pg. 81 of a 7 ft board with the same logo.   Ours is 9’5 and well preserved. The exact number of balsa boards they made are not known, but sources tell us there were not many.
