It pays to look it up.  When walking into the Gilgo Beach Inn, in Long Island, N.Y.  hanging over the bar was this 10ft Greg Noll Maverick of a surfboard with layers of dust on it.   After speaking with the owner and learned the story of the board, he agreed to put in our auction.    It has the classic fatman logo and the ink is bright red.  It has a ¾ inch redwood center stringer with offset black pin lines with a American blue rail wrap. There is slight sun fade on the bottom with highline surface scratches throughout the board that can easily be wet sanded and buffed out to make this board a 9.5 condition.  It has a redwood and balsa tail block and a glass on black fin.   The serial number “4693” is stamped on the tail block.  Even though there are no records of the serial numbers, but what we do know is the stamped numbers were made in Gregs factory in Hermosa Beach California, “Hence this California Beach Break” and the penciled numbers on the foam were made in Greg’s Store on Kapiolani Boulevard Hawaii.

This board was once owned by Rob Prosky, (RIP) a drummer for the Super Tones and a well-respected surfer and collector amongst highly regarded surfers such as Mark Fragale, Charlie Bunger, Paul McDuffe and throughout the Long Island community.   This board is the whole package.  It’s original, has provenance, and it is a true Greg Noll California Beach Break
