Lot #49 Bing / David Nuuhiwa Noserider

In conjunction with Randy Rarick's Noseriding Project "The SUMMER of '66"

Description

FIRST TIME ON THE AUCTION BLOCL! 100% ALL ORIGINAL! PART OF THE "SUMMER OF '66 NOSERIDING SERIES".

Here is a Bing David Nuuhiwa Noserider specialty built for Down South Surf Shop in Port Aransas Texas in the summer of 67.   This is a late run for the Noseriders where most were built in '66.   The board has been ridden and has its normal wear of heel compressions and slight tanning on the deck, with a light fading of the logo.  It was used as intended, NOSERIDING!   It has a glassed on red fin with a high – density foam tail block with a red outline matching the fin.  It has a center five band stringer cluster with serial number 8219 on the balsa with matching Birth Certificate.    Bing Copeland quotes “The David Nuuhiwa Noseriding model was distinctive in both design and aesthetic.  The Noseriders were the last boards made with 10 -ounce fiberglass (Two layers on the top and bottom) weighing in about 30 -32lbs” pg 49 in Bing Surfboards Fifty Years of Craftsmanship and Innovation.  A similar board like this, with the distinctive tear drop concave nose was used in Randy Rarick’s recently release design project, “Summer of 66” making this design one of the best Noseriders ever produced.  Its only original once and here it is.
